Century Entertainment International Holdings will remain suspended from trading after the Hong Kong Stock Exchange introduced additional requirements that the company must satisfy before its shares can be reinstated. The expanded resumption conditions include the publication of all outstanding financial results, the resolution of audit-related issues, and the completion of an independent review of the company’s internal control framework. The company’s shares have been suspended since June 26, 2025, and a supplemental announcement released on July 20 explained that continuing delays in the publication of its annual financial results, together with concerns surrounding its financial reporting controls, prompted the exchange to broaden its resumption guidance.

According to Century Entertainment, the delays were largely attributable to the reallocation of internal resources to support its recently established online gaming operations, particularly the development of its Phase IV project. The company also experienced unexpected difficulties in recruiting finance professionals, leaving the new business with insufficient accounting personnel. As a result, management was unable to complete the preparation of financial schedules and supporting audit documentation within the required timeframe, contributing to the postponement of its outstanding financial statements.
The Hong Kong Stock Exchange determined that these circumstances raised significant concerns regarding the effectiveness of the company’s financial reporting framework. In particular, the exchange questioned whether Century Entertainment had maintained adequate internal controls, proper accounting records, and sufficient supporting documentation for its expanding online gaming business. These deficiencies prompted regulators to conclude that additional remedial measures would be necessary before trading in the company’s shares could resume.
Under the revised guidance issued by the exchange on July 14, Century Entertainment is required to publish all outstanding financial results and resolve any audit modifications identified during the reporting process. In addition, the company must appoint an independent consultant to conduct a comprehensive review of its internal control systems. The review must demonstrate that all weaknesses associated with the trading suspension have been effectively addressed and that the company’s internal governance and financial reporting controls are sufficient to ensure ongoing compliance with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange’s listing requirements and other applicable regulatory obligations.
Despite outlining the new regulatory expectations, the company’s latest announcements did not provide any indication of when the delayed financial results would be published or when trading in its shares might resume. Consequently, the suspension remains in place while Century Entertainment works to satisfy the exchange’s enhanced compliance requirements.
The ongoing suspension coincides with the company’s continued expansion into the Philippine online gaming market through its joint venture with World Platinum Technologies (WPT). As part of that initiative, the venture recently launched 27 online gaming titles across seven gaming venues, marking another step in Century Entertainment’s strategy to strengthen its presence in the sector.
Century Entertainment also reported positive operational performance from the venture, stating that the rollout generated approximately HK$45 million (US$5.7 million) in net winnings during the period between April and June. The company further disclosed that WPT has provided a revenue guarantee of HK$100 million over a 15-month period, offering additional financial support as the online gaming business continues to expand while the company works toward meeting the Hong Kong Stock Exchange’s conditions for the eventual resumption of trading.
