Uganda’s Gaming Operators Face Imminent Deadline to Renew NLGRB 2026 Licences

Uganda’s gaming industry is racing against time as operators have just two days left to renew their licences through the National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) e-licensing platform, in order to secure their 2026 operating rights and comply with national regulations.

In an official announcement, the NLGRB reminded all licensed gaming operators of the fast-approaching deadline, stressing that “the renewal window closes on October 31, 2025, and any applications submitted after this date will not be accepted.” The regulator urged operators to act without delay to avoid missing the cut-off.

According to the notice, every operator is required to submit all relevant documentation through the NLGRB’s e-licensing system and demonstrate adherence to regulatory standards. The Board emphasized that renewal applications must include evidence of “full compliance with regulatory obligations.”

The NLGRB further detailed the documents and certifications necessary for the renewal process, stating: “This includes submission of audited financial statements, valid tax clearance certificates, certificates of good conduct for directors and NITA-U IT system certification. Operators must also ensure that all gaming systems are integrated with the National Central Electronic Monitoring System (NCEMS) before renewal is approved.”

This move forms part of the NLGRB’s continued efforts to reinforce transparency and regulatory integrity within Uganda’s gaming sector. By tightening compliance requirements, the Board aims to strengthen oversight and sustain a secure and trustworthy gaming environment across the country.

Failure to meet the submission deadline could have serious consequences for operators, with the NLGRB warning that those who do not comply risk losing their right to operate in 2026 — a development that could disrupt business continuity.

With only two days remaining, the pressure is mounting on gaming operators to complete all necessary submissions through the official e-licensing platform. The regulator reiterated that late applications will not be entertained, underscoring the urgency of the process and the importance of acting immediately.
