Sri Lanka Orders Immediate Blocking of 24 Unlicensed Online Gambling Websites

Sri Lanka has ordered the immediate blocking of 24 online gambling and betting websites that are operating without the licenses required under the country’s legal framework.

The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) has instructed all telecommunications service providers to restrict access to the identified platforms with immediate effect.

The websites covered by the directive are 1xbet.com, betway.com/en-lk, 22bet.com, melbet.com, unibet.com, betfair.com, dafabet.com, bet365.com, 1win.com, spinbetter.com, 10cric.com, bc.game, megapari.com, pin-up.bet, stake.com, mostbet.com, parimatch.com, betwinner.com, linebet.com, 4rabet.com, rajabets.com, dbbet.com, coldbet.com and WinWin.

The TRCSL, which operates under the Ministry of Digital Economy, imposed the restrictions following a notification issued by the Gambling Regulatory Authority under the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development.

The move has been carried out under the provisions of the Gambling Regulatory Authority Act, No. 17 of 2025. According to the Ministry of Digital Economy, any person or entity that provides or promotes online gambling services in Sri Lanka without a valid license issued under Sections 15, 16 and 18 of the Act commits an offense under Section 44.

The Ministry of Digital Economy and the TRCSL have also urged members of the public not to participate in or invest money through unauthorized online gambling platforms operating outside Sri Lanka’s legal framework.

While online gambling is permitted in Sri Lanka, operators are required to obtain the necessary authorization and comply with the country’s licensing requirements. The provision or promotion of online gambling services without a valid license is prohibited under the applicable legislation.
