MGM Resorts has announced a strategic partnership with Grupo Globo to introduce a BetMGM-branded platform in Brazil, anticipated to launch in early 2025. This development is contingent on obtaining the necessary licenses to operate a sports betting and iGaming platform within the country.
The collaboration will leverage LeoVegas’ technology, combined with Grupo Globo’s deep understanding of the Brazilian market, to create a platform enriched with MGM Resorts’ content and brand offerings.
Bill Hornbuckle, CEO and President of MGM Resorts, expressed the significance of this alliance, stating, "MGM Resorts is committed to becoming the world's premier gaming entertainment company, and this strategic alliance with Grupo Globo, and entry into the Brazilian market, is a landmark step forward and key milestone in our growth strategy.”
To ensure the success of the platform, a headquarters will be established in São Paulo, with a leadership team composed of talent from both MGM Resorts and Grupo Globo. Additionally, MGM has indicated that new hires may be brought on board to facilitate a smooth launch and maintain ongoing operations.
Hornbuckle further emphasized the importance of this venture, noting, "Brazil is one of the most exciting and vibrant emerging gaming markets in the world, and no one has more exposure and expertise in this market than Grupo Globo. This historic alliance allows us to quickly enter the market with the scale and expertise needed to establish an early foothold as a leading operator and provider of the very best experience to customers across Brazil."
Further details about the joint venture between MGM and Grupo Globo are expected to be revealed once local gaming regulatory approvals are secured.
