Crown Resorts has successfully retained its casino license in Sydney following an evaluation by authorities in New South Wales, who deemed the group's remediation efforts satisfactory. The New South Wales Independent Casino Commission (NICC) acknowledged Crown Resorts' comprehensive transformation of its business, implementing extensive reforms across various areas including harm minimization, financial crime, governance, compliance, and risk management.
In a statement released by the company, Crown Resorts highlighted its investment of approximately AU$200 million ($130 million) in the transformation process. This investment facilitated the introduction of rigorous standards aimed at deterring and detecting money laundering, reflecting the company's commitment to preventing financial crime.
Among the initiatives undertaken by Crown Resorts is the implementation of its harm minimization program, Crown PlaySafe, as well as the adoption of cashless gaming on all electronic table games (ETGs). Mark McWhinnie, CEO of Crown Sydney, expressed satisfaction with the NICC's decision, emphasizing the genuine and sustainable changes made by the company and its commitment to upholding the highest industry standards.
