Brazilian Court Issues Public Summons to MCR 73 Investimento Over Alleged Unpaid Winnings

The Court of Justice of the Federal District and Territories in Brazil has issued a formal public summons to MCR 73 Investimento LTDA, a betting platform accused of withholding BRL 169,000 in alleged winnings from a user who claims they were blocked from withdrawing their prize.

According to the complaint, the individual earned the substantial sum while playing Fortune Tiger, a widely popular online game in Brazil. However, the user alleges that despite accumulating the winnings, the platform refused to allow any withdrawals.

After failing to receive a response from the operator, the claimant turned to the judiciary. The court itself also encountered roadblocks in its attempts to identify or locate any legal representatives or a physical address associated with MCR 73 Investimento LTDA. With all attempts proving unsuccessful, the presiding judge moved to issue a notice through the public record.

In the official summons, the court granted the company a deadline of 20 business days to provide a response. The notice also states that if MCR 73 Investimento fails to reply within that timeframe, the court may presume the plaintiff’s allegations to be true, in accordance with Brazilian civil procedural law.

The controversy around Fortune Tiger has not been limited to the platform alone. Earlier this year, several social media influencers were acquitted after facing charges for promoting the game, including one high-profile case involving an influencer who was arrested and held for two months before being released.

With the platform remaining unresponsive and no legal presence identified, the court’s public summons represents a last-resort measure to hold MCR 73 Investimento accountable amid rising scrutiny over online gambling practices in the country.
