Brazil's progress in regulating its betting industry has significantly strengthened its position as one of the world's most attractive iGaming markets.

During the SBC Summit Americas 2026, executives, investors, industry specialists, and market leaders repeatedly identified the country as one of the most promising destinations for future expansion within the global gaming sector.
The growing attention is driven by several factors, including Brazil's large and engaged user base, the widespread adoption of digital payment solutions, and the continued advancement of its regulatory framework. Throughout the summit, Brazil featured prominently in discussions surrounding market expansion, innovation, and the long-term sustainability of the regulated betting industry.
Thiago Garrides, CEO of Cactus Gaming, emphasized the country's increasing importance on the international stage.
“The country was perceived as one of the most relevant territories for activity on a global scale. There is growing interest from platforms, developers, companies specializing in payments, digital infrastructure providers and investors who see a unique opportunity for development here.
At the same time, everyone understands that acting in this scenario requires in-depth knowledge of operational and cultural particularities and the requirements set out in current rules.”
According to Garrides, although Brazil presents exceptional growth opportunities, industry participants also acknowledged the importance of overcoming the challenges associated with establishing a secure, balanced, and fully compliant regulatory environment.
One of the central themes discussed during SBC Summit Americas was the importance of regulatory compliance. Participants also focused on maintaining operational integrity, strengthening consumer protection measures, and implementing effective anti-money laundering practices. Additional discussions covered financial security, operational automation, advanced data analytics, and improved oversight of gaming operations.
The event also highlighted a noticeable shift in business priorities across the industry.
While companies previously concentrated primarily on customer acquisition and revenue growth, greater emphasis is now being placed on governance, transparency, and long-term operational sustainability.
Gustavo Coelho, Business Director at Cactus Gaming, explained that the industry is entering a new stage of development.
“We are entering a phase in which competitive advantages are no longer concentrated solely on the ability to scale operations.
The best positioned organizations will be those that are able to deliver stability, trust, analytical capacity and adherence to compliance requirements. The sustainable development of the activity will increasingly depend on this balance.”
Another recurring topic throughout the summit was the importance of tailoring products and services specifically to the Brazilian market. Although international companies are increasingly interested in entering the country, experts agreed that business models successfully implemented in other regulated jurisdictions may not fully address Brazil's unique operational and regulatory requirements.
For businesses seeking to establish themselves within Brazil's regulated betting market, priorities include seamless integration with the PIX payment system, robust Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures, reliable identity verification, effective monitoring of financial transactions, and sophisticated fraud prevention solutions.
Companies are also investing in responsible gaming initiatives while enhancing their reporting capabilities to meet the expectations of regulatory authorities.
Artificial intelligence emerged as another key driver of the industry's future development. AI-powered systems are increasingly being used to analyze large volumes of operational data, detect unusual behavioral patterns, identify potential risks before they escalate, reinforce internal compliance controls, and improve player protection across betting platforms.
Looking ahead, Garrides believes the coming years will play a decisive role in determining which organizations are best positioned to capitalize on Brazil's enormous market potential.
He concluded:
“The Brazilian territory has characteristics that place it among the greatest global opportunities for the activity.
However, the protagonists of this new cycle will not necessarily be those who advance the fastest, but rather those who manage to combine innovation, operational excellence, governance, technological capacity and effective commitment to building a balanced environment for all participants.”
