The Ethereum mainnet. The Beacon Chain should merge with the proof-of-stake Beacon Chain within the next month.
The third and last test environment network (testnet) merging before the Ethereum blockchain makes its long-awaited transition from proof-of-work to proof-of-stake has been accomplished successfully.
Goerli was the final of three public testnets to undergo a Merge "dress rehearsal." Following this, the mainnet Merge is anticipated to occur by the end of September.
When the Terminal Total Difficulty (TTD) topped 10,790,000, the network switched to proof-of-stake (PoS). This took place about 1:45 UTC.
In preparation for the testnet integration, Ethereum announced on July 27 the Bellatrix update to Goerli's beacon chain Prater. After the Bellatrix beacon chain was launched on August 4, all that remained was for it to join with Goerli in order for the testnet to continue operating on the PoS chain.
The testnet merging brings the Ethereum mainnet upgrade later this year one step closer. The two previous testnet merges, Ropsten and Sepolia, were also mostly successful, boosting the Ethereum community's optimism that the genuine Merge will be possible this year.
