Abramovich: Confirms sale of Chelsea - Money to the victims of Ukraine

In an official announcement, the Russian tycoon clarifies that he will not ask for the repayment of the loans, as well as the establishment of an institution for the management of the sale money.

In an official announcement, Roman Abramovich, the owner of Chelsea, confirms the sale of the English club . In a press release issued by Chelsea, the Russian tycoon said that the best thing for all parties at the moment is to sell the club so that the team does not have any problems , while he clarified that the money will go to the victims of the Ukraine war.

At the same time, Abramovich states in the announcement that he will not ask for the repayment of the team's loans, as he states that he never put money above his love for the team and its fans .

Finally, he adds that this decision was extremely difficult to make , while thanking the whole Chelsea organization.

Abramovich's announcement states in detail:

"I would like to refer to the media speculation in recent days about my ownership of Chelsea FC. As I have stated before, I always made decisions based on the interest of the club. In the current situation, therefore, I made the decision to sell the Group, as I believe that this is in the interest of the Group, the fans, the employees, as well as the sponsors and associates of the Group.

The sale of the Association will not be done quickly (Fast - track) but the appropriate procedure will be followed. I will not ask for the loans to be repaid . The issue for me was never business or money, but pure passion for the game and the Club. In addition, I have instructed my associates to set up a charity where all proceeds from the sale will be donated. The foundation will be for the benefit of all victims of the war in Ukraine. This includes providing critical resources for the victims' urgent and immediate needs, as well as supporting the long-term recovery work .

Please know that this was an incredibly difficult decision to make , and it hurts me to be parting with the Club this way. However, I believe that this is in the interest of the club.

I hope to be able to visit Stamford Bridge one last time to say goodbye to you all personally. It was a privilege for me to be a member of Chelsea FC and I am proud of all our common achievements. "Chelsea Football Club and its supporters will always be in my heart. "
