In order to simplify and digitize the procedures related to shipping and which should be provided electronically and in a simple way, without requiring the physical presence of the citizen, such as the management of the register, the support of maritime education, the publication of a maritime booklet etc., a program agreement was signed today at the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy between the Minister of Shipping Giannis Plakiotakis and the Minister of Digital Government Kyriakos Pierrakakis.

The agreement includes seven pillars, which are shipping, ports, maritime tourism, coastal shipping, Coast Guard, Island Policy, Maritime Education and in which 43 digital actions will be digitized, without requiring the physical presence of citizens.
These actions include e-mail, the issuance of a nationality document and a ship certificate, the seafarer’s box, the electronic charter agreement, the establishment of a Maritime Pleasure Ship Company, the electronic flow management platform for cruise ships and cruise ships. harmful vessels, the national port community platform, the creation of a citizen information system for the real time of arrival-departure of coastal ships, etc.
It will also include important actions related to maritime education, such as the study management system at the Merchant Marine Academies, the Maritime Competence Certificates, the creation of an electronic register of maritime training instructors and an electronic recruitment monitoring system, etc.
“Today’s signing of the program agreement with the Ministry of Digital Government is a breakthrough that will significantly help the efficiency and functionality of the ministry’s services and will lead to the simplification of procedures and the improvement of the level of service to citizens,” said the minister.
